From 1962 to 1965, the Bishops of the Catholic Church gathered for the 21st ecumenical council. What was given to us by the Council Fathers at the Second Vatican Council established the modern foundation for a Roman Catholics' understanding of the Church and the renewal that followed.
In Understanding Vatican II, Part 1, we will examine the first 4 promulgated documents - Sacrosanctum Concilium (Liturgy), Inter Mirifica (Social Communication), Lumen Gentium (The Church), and Orientalium Ecclesiarum (Eastern Rite). [Parts 2, 3, and 4 will follow in the upcoming years]
We will disperse many of the myths and false teachings that were taught to us following the council. We will come to a deeper and more complete understanding of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church as well as see how the documents are now beginning to take shape in the Church today.
